Halibut Fishing

12 hour trip – The ultimate offshore fishing adventure for the true sportsman! Travel 20-30 miles offshore to fish in waters over 800 feet deep for this unique flat fish.  This trip includes everything you will need to fish with, as well as filleting at the end of your trip.

Halibut caught on our trips normally average about 30 lbs, and are considered by many culinary experts to be the best tasting white fish in the ocean! Halibut fishing is subject to strict seasonal requirements, so get your reservations in early!  The Oregon limit on Halibut for 2024 is 2 per person.

*Please note, we fish in “shifts” for our Halibut (usually about 6 people fishing at one time rather than the “everyone at once/combat fishing” approach)  Each fisherman will fish for one drift, then rest for one drift.  After reeling up 800 ft, a rest is usually welcome!  This method helps to reduce tangles and improves the fishing experience for everyone.

12 hour trip – Our popular extreme offshore adventure for experienced fishermen!  Join in the excitement, and travel 20-50 miles from port to fish for one of the most popular sport fish around.

This trip includes everything you will need to fish with, and filleting is available after the trip on a per/fish charge basis. Our experienced captains and crew study the warm water and chlorophyll charts to find the best places to fish, and use chum and IQF anchovies for the best 12 hour fishing adventure the area has to offer.  Due to the feeding habits of tuna, you may see one or more different fishing methods used on our trips.  Some  of our tuna may be caught “on the troll” by towing surface jigs along the top of the water.  Others may be caught by casting swimbaits or “dropping iron” down deeper.  The gear type and method of fishing employed (troll vs bait) does not typically affect the amount of fish caught on a charter trip, and the captain will employ the method s/he thinks will result in the best chance of catching fish!  This trip can be very weather dependent, so please keep that in mind when scheduling.  Often, if a trip is cancelled for rough offshore weather conditions, you may opt for a nearshore bottom fishing trip the same day instead.  Full refunds will be given for trips that are cancelled by the captain for weather.

Head on out into the great Pacific to try your luck trolling for some of the best salmon the coast has to offer.  Although the Coho (Silver) salmon is our main target, it’s not unusual to land a Chinook (King) either!  Regulations can change year to year, or even mid-season.  The captain and deckhand will guide you in this regard, ensuring you are only keeping fish that are in-season.  Next, we’ll switch gears and head to a nearshore reef for some rockfish and maybe lingcod!  Then we’ll finish off the day pulling in the crab pots and enjoying the amazing scenery the Oregon Coast has to offer. While we don’t always end up with limits on this trip, the fun is in the experience, and folks usually end up going home with an awesome dinner and plenty of seafood left to freeze for later.
