After several slow years, the halibut fishing is back! Our crew has worked hard to find some new spots (shhh, don’t tell) and experimented to find some new tasty bait choices that these fish can’t seem to resist. We are having to head 30 miles offshore and fish in waters over 1000ft deep, so it’s not going to be easy – but when you hook into a nice one, it’s worth it! Fish have been running about 25-30 lbs, with a few pushing 50lbs. The limit of Halibut remains 1 per person, but Black Cod (sablefish) continue to be a tasty bonus on this trip, with several being caught each day.
